Great contest!

I was instantly drawn to this image as it is exactly what I have done with many other buildings in a series called 'Face Of The City'. The clever inclusion of the water reflection is something I have not done and it's a big bonus to the concept. Lovely colours, a perfect blue tone with its many varitions framed almost with the golden bars, personally I would be pleased to have done this one and as all symmetry very pleasing to the eye.... This remained in the Top 10 for the whole contest - well done.....

This one was on the maybe pile for ages the as the contest moved on it raised itself up the rankings, I like this a lot, it's very simple but still effective. I love the strong colour with subtle variations and the wobbly shapes not too overdone. Really without the lamp, this would not be as good. If it's 'as is' then you got away with it if you have created this then well done, a comment on the desciption would be nice......... This is a 'stand out' image......

Very nice reminds me of Escher or Geiger. This would make a great Jigsaw Puzzle. Very on the brief and was very very close to a Top 10. Lovely symmetry, lines, tone and great 3D effect looming out of the screen well done.......

Meet the judge

I have used this architecture and distorted it myself a few times. It lends itself very well to it. As with most symmetry it is a pleasing image with alot of interest - a mass of leading lines. But it fulfills the brief in still being able to recognise what it tis - well done. The 'heart' really finishes off this image and would not be successful without it. I'm sure you made a few attempts to get it right. Being near Valentines Day I think it had to do well...... Sadly too many good images to make the top 10 but next time.....

This is a simple technique but cleverly done and 'eye catching' when looking through a selection of images. it is easy to mirror images but certainly not so to get the right effect or one that works - I would probably do the same thing, I would reduce the shadows possibly. It was clever to use the dome at an angle and not just give us an 'owl eye' effect with the domes straight on - I must admit it also looks a bit risque in an anatomical sense.........

I like it - clever use of the technique that I am unfamiliar with. The architecture stands out and the distortion lends itself well to it. Nice to keep the buildings on the edges frames it well. Can't decide if the words detract or not but this would have taken some thought and time to achieve. Not sure about the grain/noise in the clouds but a marvellous use of multiple techniques and a genuine piece for the brief...... Very unique for this contest also....

Very nice and cleverly done, this I assume was time-consuming and needed a lot of playing with to get right. I live in London so know most of these buildings, a clever montage of architecture and a novel way to answer the brief that no on else has matched. Thanks for this one I did not expect it and due to its uniqueness in the contest made the top 10 and worthy of praise. Well done......

This is lovely, a perfect inclusion to this contest - one I would certainly like to have created. Nice use of 'lack of colour' monochrome but with masses of variety in the greys. The multitude of shapes creates lots to look at as the eye wanders but very pleasing. It is a vertical mirror but confusing enough to wonder what it is......Clever use of lines and you are automatically drawn into the image........ This was always a Top 10 for me right from the outset..... P.S please remove the watermark next time......

This is nice, perfect fit for the brief, catches the eye and has a lot going for it - leading lines, vanishing point, angles lots of shapes and interest, again I like the grey tones and the use of light through the windows - Industrial but beautiful, you have used the architecture to its advantage and remove the stairs and it's a very believable passage...... Very very close to a Top 10 would have been 11th.........

This is a clever use of mirroring to create a very realistic building - clever use of the architecture to create a very pleasing image. Symmetry works in most photos and this demonstrates that, nice tones and use of light, great reflections, I guess a nighttime image... The only flaw is the sky - soften or blur it then its perfect......... Very close to the Top 10 just too many great images this time.......

Thank you for the honest and detailed description - no as you say it's not a work of art but it is fun and amused me as soon as I saw it. You made an effort and had a good idea, also you planned it especially for the contest which a huge number of entries would not have, we learn by what we do and photographers are sometimes more than that we are creators or 'digital artists' as I am sometimes known as. well done and it is a bit of fun and to be honest stood out very well amongst a lot of contest entrants....... With a little tidying up it is a quirky bit of urban nonsense......

This is very unique in this contest - unusual style and nicely done. I think there maybe some deeper meaning to thr whole thing but not made clear, a sense of mystery but there is a story being told. Lot of work gone into thios and you should be proud, caught my eye and a concept you should keep working with.........

Lovely image and a great idea, I have done similar but horizontally. I do like it a lot but I must note that there are spot/blemishes on the images especially bottom one usually caused by rain or marks on the lens. Also, I think maybe in the correct order it would have worked better, but then thinking im not sure maybe because it is in the wrong order it stands out even more, just my opinion but deserves credit......

Thank you for the description. Nice image dark and foreboding - threatening almost very well executed, I used to not understand grainy images but this works very well and I have used it myself. The building is brilliantly distorted and you clearly had a lot of thought in the outcome. I like it a lot keep up the gloomy work........

See more contest details

For this contest we want to see Architecture that has been distorted in post to create an abstract image with a pleasing visual. With the use of symmetry, mirroring, reflecting or even circular software. The idea is to be subtle yet unique but still maintain the original architectural characteristics of the building or feature... it must still be recognisable as what it was.

Great work and very close to a Top 10 place just some very good images in front, though. I really like this effect and the composition well thought, you put some time into it. I would like to have done this well done.......

Gorgeous - exactly what I was hoping for to encompass the brief but not overdoing it - keeping the architecture almost as is. The silver metallic tone is great and very 'eye catching'. Beautiful symmetry and visually pleasing - lots of detail to look at. In the description it states it is a true reflection if so then well done, at first I assumed it had been mirrored but I like that the two halves have enough differences to not make it fake...... I may try this technique myself...... Very very close to the top 10 nbut sorry there were many good images, next time......

I have seen this image a few times on other Photocrowd contests and even though after the initial inspection it is quite obviously photoshop - it isn't too obvious at first glance - when viewed at a distance you are fooled. It always stands out and I keep having to check it's not real whenever I come across it. Cleverly done and I'm guessing was time-consuming to get everything in the right place, looking a bit closer you can see the variation in brick sizes but I have only now noticed that as a judge....... A pleasing image....

Sorry to be cheesy but WOW - this is wonderful. Completely on the brief - abstract but retaining the architecture of a well know building. Almost minimalistic but with so much interest and detail. Visually stunning, certainly beyond what I can achieve at this time. The title itself gives a bit more sense to it all......Thank you for sharing and well done. Sadly not quite top 10 but was very very close.....

It's very silly but has something appealing, I like it and you have gone to some effort to try and get it right, well done. Maybe if the Monument was straight it would improve it but it has charm in its fantasy abstract way.........

Nice image, clever use of software but the architecture as a whole lends itself very well to use this effect. 'Eye Catching' image with lovely colours and tones, very fond of the blues and the lights/shadows are brilliant........ As I have said before the image needs to be a good one in the first place prior to any abstractification. As the days went on and I looked at it more I will admit it travelled up the rankings a few times........ Well done.
