It took me a long while picking my top ten of the adult swans there was so many great photos, but this one ended up being my number 1 spot. I like that it was taken low down which made the foreground and background nicely out of focus. Just a great and simple image of a black swan technically everything comes together with this image focus was spot on choice of aperture and getting low down to take the image.
A very well done in getting 1st place.

This image was so close to getting into my top ten, it shows so much movement in the image, it looks like to me the blur of the water was achieved with some clever editing but it also looks like you used a slightly fast shutter speed judging by the wake behind the swan, very clever editing skills.
Well done in getting a highly commended.
Out of the 994 entries there was only 43 black and white photos and this one was my favourite. It is a photo of a bevy of swans all going about their business, I think the black and white conversion really works well with this scene, taking away the colour helps you to focus on the Swans but the amazing thing about this photo was that it was taken with a compact camera with a wide angle lens. I think I would have given it a higher placing if it was not for the Swan on the left which has got some slight motion blur which I think was due to a slow shutter speed of 1/100 I think the aperture you used of f/10 was a good choice because it gave you a good depth of field which made everything sharp from front to back, maybe you could have raised the ISO so that it would have given you a higher shutter speed.
But a very well done in getting 8th place.
I picked this photo for my 10th place because it was clearly taken with a wide angle lens, you must have been very close to the swan when you took this photo which made it stand out to me, maybe the reason you got so close to the swan is because you were feeding him? judging by the pose of the swan with his bill in the water.
Well done in getting 10th place.
What a great winter scene with the swan rising up in the water with its wings stretched out. The trees in the background done with infrared either achieved in camera or some cleaver editing technic, it also looks like it was taken early in the morning or in the evening which gives the image the best light.
Well done in getting 7th place.
