First of all congratulations on your top 10 placement and thank you for entering such a great image into this competition. It wasn’t an easy decision to pick out the top 10, with some really great work being submitted for judging, however this image stood out straight away to me during selection.
I love how dynamic this image feels, a real sense of movement and athleticism. The conversion to monochrome and blurring of the background has been superbly done, ensuring focus is purely on the high jumper. Very well taken, executed and presented, well done!

We had a number of dance shots, capturing the subject in flight. This image stood out as the subject pops against the black background and the flour adds a real sense of motion and drama to the image. A well composed, directed and presented image.

Shooting at diving events is not easy, I appreciate this. The sheer amount of distractions, bright colours, low light/high ISO's and elements of unpredictability. You have captured a perfect moment in time, with a great shape and composition. A great choice to convert to monochrome, you have done this really well. and used the high ISO to add a sense of drama and grit to the image.

Motocross shots massively over indexed in this competition, and the standard of many of the images was very high. I have nominated this one as it delivers on a number of important factors. The technical aspect is great, with sharpness on point. There is a lack of background distractions allowing you to focus purely on the subject. And finally the composition and rider/bike positioning is perfect - I really like the head on positioning.

There was some tough competition amongst 'dogs in flight', but I have selected this one for a number of reasons. I like the simplicity and uncluttered background, with the beach water ripples really adding a nice reflection and texure. I also like the orange ball. Ordinarily I would have said the ball was a distraction and too bright, but the gaze and ambition this dog has set on the ball makes the image. Perfectly caught, well timed and presented with to a high standard.

There were a few high quality horse jump shots to choose from, and this one was my favourite. The challenge with horse trials shoots is to find a background that gives context to the event yet doesn't overwhelm the subject and distract from it. I think this images strikes a nice balance between the two, has great light and composition. Well done!

There's three elements that really make this image stand out. The first is the subject, a very different entry which drives a sense of 'wow'. The second is the shape and composition you have presented, perfectly sitting in the frame with a perfectly captured point in time. The third element is colour, the reds and yellows really pop against a muted background. I also like the fact you've kept the hillside in the background for context.

The image brings in everything, a great subject, fantastic composition, technical perfection, sharpness and has a heavy dose of quality. It captures such a beautiful wild animal in it's natural environment very well, with such beautiful detail in the fur and eye. I appreciate your technical skills and patience to capture such a brilliant image. Well done!

This contest is for your photos of something that is airborne; something that usually travels over the ground but has taken to the air. Think dancers jumping, trampoliners, high jumpers, BMX jumps etc. I do not want to see photos of aircraft, birds or insects in flight. Colour or monochrome images are all acceptable.

A classic shot of this beautiful little creature. The lighting, timing and presentation of this image is fantastic producing a very high quality image. I assume this was a set-up shot from a hide, either way it takes technical competance and patience. Great shot.
