Aliens... or are they?

Definitely looks like something from an alien planet or sci-fi movie! I chose this one due to the more vivid colours which stand out a lot more....especially at dusk! My favorite architectural photo of the contest. Thanks for sharing! Great photo!

I chose this as my first place due to a couple of reasons. The jellyfist doesnt follow the traditional jellyfish shape in which there were a lot of entries and this one gives off a great alien UFO feel to it. The darkness and bubbles in the water add to the effect and make it look like its actually in space! As more of a fun contest rather than me attempting to judge the technical aspects of the photo, i ilike this photo and feel its a worthy winner due to if i saw this floating in the sky, i would get the tin foil hat out ASAP! well done!

One of my favourite alien landscapes in the contest. I like the contrasting environments on both sides of the shot with the greenery in the left and what looks like red desert in the right. If mars blended with earth? looks like an alien landscape and deserved a top 10 in my eyes! great shot!

There were a lot of orchid pictures to judge in this contest. Most of them looked awesome and made my life of a judge quite difficult. I chose this as my fave one and a place in the top ten mostly due to the central part looking like a little alien on a control panel (maybe more so than the others!) It may not be in focus or a nice shot as some of the others but fulfils my brief exactly! well done!

This photo gives off an alien landscape vibe to it with the added filters. The colour makes it look otherworldly and one of my favourite landscape photos in the contest. Are you sure theres no aliens hiding behind the stones? Thanks for sharing! Great photo!

Sometimes, simple is best. So many insect macros in the competition but this one stuck out as looking more alien then most. It may not be a sharp picture of an insects big eyes but generally with those pictures i could tell you what insect it was rather than it being "alien" This however sticks out as inadvertingly looking like an aliens face without being on the face! Cool stuff! This wouldnt look out of place in a miyazaki movie! but an excellent example of what i was looking for on the brief!

Simple light.......or alien spaceship! Again, a great interpretation of the brief. I feel this photo benefited from the vivid colours and water droplets to make it look truely out of this world! Well done getting the photo before it took off! :oD Great job!

My favourite insect macro that looks alien. I feel the focus on the subject is good (especially with it being underwater) and the environment adds to the effect as it looks a little out of this world too. This reminds me of the big firebugs on starship troopers. Great shot!

Honorable mention in the orchid aliens! Definitely fulfills the alien vibe and looking quite sinister in the bargain! It looks like something from a sci fi film. Close second to the other orchid photo in my top 10! Thanks for sharing!
