This is great photo, I loved it immediately and I was really undecided tempted to chose it as a winner, I liked the colors, the tones, the composition and the variety. I've changed my mind due to the lines, if this should be a winning architectural image, I would have post processed it a bit, straightening a little bit the lines. But again, this is a great image and the human figure gives to it the true sense of proportions and reminding me a giant 80's Arcade Game.
I loved this image from the first sight, and once I checked closer I loved it more. I've been called to judge a topic which is out of my comfort zone, so the challenge to choose well was double. But in my opinion this one is the perfect architectural photo. There's everything in it, complexity but order, the lines are clear, the contrasts well balanced, and the most important thing over all, which I privileged in all images I've chosen, the sense of scale. The human figure in the low right third, reflected in the glass on the low right end gives to the observer the immediate sense of size of the whole place. I've seen a lot of good images, perfectly executed and technically cured, but in a lot of cases I've missed the sense of scale, in short, can't understand what I'm looking, if a model, if an object or a building. Here the subject is clear, and clean and professionally captured. So for me this is a winner.

There's a lot of amazing architecture in the world, but no two buildings are ever amazing for exactly the same reasons. Every construction is a unique fingerprint of the designers, planners, surveyors and builders who have worked on it, and the influences that were on them at the time. Do them justice and capture some truly wonderful architectural photos for this contest!
Really impressive and great composition! This photo seems a single frame taken from a sci-fi movie where the alien land on earth and begin their invasion. As a landscape photographer I love the composition with clouds and sun, with warm and delicate pastel tones. Personally I would have cured a little more the post-production phase, removing some of the disturbing elements like branches or antennae of the scene, but this is my personal taste and a possible advice if agreed. Great idea to put the chimneys in the lower third to give to the observer the sense of size. Congratulations, this is a fantastic photo I would love to have in my travel portfolio.
Great colors and exposure, I liked immediately the impact of this photo. It is really stunning. It definitely captures the curiosity of the observer making him think "what's that?". However I see some small improvements that can be easily done. What I would do to improve it? I would Improve the exposure, and the vertical lines. In the first case, I noticed a little too soft edges, may be that a better and more stable exposition would improve and sharpen them. In the second case, the straightening of the vertical lines with some little more symmetry, could improve the peculiarity of the whole image. Anyway great! This is one of those images that can be printed and hang in a famous architect studio.
Great image and great example of architectural photography composition and study. The sun behind the walkway reveals clearly the preparation and the effort put in obtaining the photo. The post-production is well done, solid and well balanced. The black and white composition emphasizes the lead lines toward the sky. The only difficulty, I see in this one, and several photo of the same kind is that is really hard to contextualize it, but I understand that it is a real difficult problem to solve. Anyway an absolutely fantastic realized architectural image. Congratulations!
Meet the expert judge
I liked the lines, the pattern, the bw balance and the contrasts. In my opinion the biggest difficulty I see for this photo to be an architecture contest winner (and for a large number of images), is as always, the context. What I'm observing? Is this just a decoration, how large is it? Is this a building or a model or is it just a texture? I see a great technical quality in the photo, a great post-production, and I'm sure that the photographer has done several more relevant photos for this topic.
