Stunning composition, well-timed image with nice subtle post-production techniques. The image keeps it so simple and it's an image that kept drawing me back for a second, third and forth look for this very reason. Definitely an image that could grace any wall as artwork.

Outstanding image of the Rosette Nebula, it’s clear to see the hours spent dedicated to capturing this image. The post-production is also exceptional and very well executed. An inspirational image within the competition that definitely deserves to be highly commended and more.

This is a great image, though please clean any sensor spots and blemishes with a healing brush or spot removal tool in Lightroom, Photoshop or another piece of editing software, it will really help your work going forward especially in competitions

Well done on capturing such a simplistic image to striking effect. There is something about a lone tree within the landscape that captivates many of us, even better at night with the Milky Way streaking across it, very nice, sympathetic post-production applied as well.

This a brilliant piece of work, nice positioning and planning to capture the Milky Way Galactic Core carefully revealed through the openings in the rock formations, nicely edited, but also some great balanced light painting on the landscape too. Top marks, highly commended.

Mt Bromo is indeed a stunning view, and this image certainly does it justice. Very well composed and pleasing post-production techniques with cool blue hues and violet tonal range, it seems conditions really came together at the right time too, excellent work.

Outstanding work, a mesmerizing panorama of the centre of our galaxy and the visible areas around it. Very well thought out compositionally and an excellent dark sky location. Great editing techniques too creating an aesthetically pleasing masterpiece that would grace any wall.

It’s a shame, although this competition is titled “astrophotography” there are not 3 to 4 categories that separate landscape, moons, creative etc from general astrophotography, as this image would definitely take first place in its field. Technically outstanding both in the fieldwork production and post-production, an absolutely beautiful image to spend time gazing at.

It's always amazing to see photos of our closest neighboring spiral galaxy, especially given that our galaxy will eventually collide with it. This is an excellent image and the time taken to capture it and during post-production is clear to see, stunning work.

Nicely captured Aurora with highlights well controlled on top of a classic composition of Godafoss Waterfall in Iceland. A remarkable location and this image couples it with the Aurora Borealis very nicely with an amazing sky and silky smooth foreground, very well captured and edited.

This is a brilliant piece of work. The vertical autumn orientation of the Milky Way and low Galactic Core really work well compositionally with the cacti and portrait-orientated image. Very well composed and nice subtle editing though just enough to make the Milky Way pop.

A very well-composed Northern Lights image, excellent use of foreground subject and positioning. It looks like the Aurora is pouring out of the ship and engulfing the sky, the image really draws the viewer in and keeps you coming back for a second and third look, very well done.

Please explain that the image is a composite of two different images as the galactic core doesn't align to the north, nor can this much of the centre of the galaxy be seen in this part of Scotland; however, it's an excellent attempt at composting two images, and would have been commended if a better explanation of image creation was given. Keep up the good work.

This is a striking image, well-composed and with excellent mood and depth leading the viewer into the shot along the track to the lighthouse, the only illuminated part of the foreground. If only there was a top 12, this would have made the cut.

Outstanding work, well composed with subtle, but effective editing techniques used for the night sky and landscape. Excellent use of foreground and additional human element added as the foreground contours lead you to the person, pleasingly complemented by the Milky Way arch overhead. Perfect!

It’s tripods and manual mode at the ready, as we point our cameras to the heavens and photograph the night sky. Astrophotography tends to involve a decision on whether to go for a long exposure and shoot dynamic star trails, or a shorter exposure and show off the glory of the Milky Way. Both approaches require a lot of patience, and trial and error, but when mastered produce some of the most impressive images you’ll see.
