This is a really evocative and mysterious image. You have captured the layers of light and shadow perfectly throughout the scene. The sunlit areas draw me in and the shadows make me want to explore more. Although the scene is a telephoto close-up, the openness of the scene truly represents the expansiveness of the lake district. Congratulations.
I fell in love with this image from the moment I saw it for the first time. There is a masterful painterly quality to both the composition and the color palette. I have a long list of places I want to visit and photograph some day and this view is exactly the reason why the Peak District is high on that list. The gateway is inviting and the ridge trail gives a promise of adventure to be had along the trail. The light in the distance is like the gold prize at the end of the proverbial rainbow. Congratulations!
Typically an "expansive" landscape image is a horizontal format. This image shows exactly ho to create that same feeling in a vertical format. Detail after detail, stacked from front to back, draws the eye further and further into the scene. Each layer tells the story of the Lake District's beauty in endless golden light. Congratulations and thanks for entering.
Autumn in the Canadian Rockies is a magical time. I was really impressed with this composition as it proves that you can break the rules of horizon placement if the scene demands it. The way the light and clouds balance the colors and the sunlight bathing the island of pines in the lake just sell the moment. Beautiful image, perfectly captured. Congratulations.
This panoramic image of Torres del Paine is a wonderful view of Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. The color pallet is chilling, with only the leaves, bracken and pink reflected light to warm the scene. I found the entire composition to be well balanced and truly autumnal. Congratulations, and thanks for entering.
Although there is nothing subtle about this amazing landscape, the lighting and colors are very soft and controlled. The low angle of the sun keeps the trees and foreground in shade with only the color of the leaves to warm the viewer. The eye is drawn through the scene and up into the lit mountains and clouds. This is a great composition and the viewer really experiences Autumn in all its glory. Great job, congratulations.

I would like to see your broad, sweeping landscape images of autumn's arrival in the National Parks of your country. I want to see images that capture the character of the park as it appears in this season. As autumn is all about the colours of the ground cover and the skies, I will limit the contest to colour images only please. Show me why you love the season and the location.
