This is a beautiful and ethereal image, which delicately captures the essence of booze and is a clever winner for me. I love the slight silhouettes of wine bottles and the beer crates just showing through the blinds, which combined the well-timed car lights give a hauntingly beautiful feel to the image. I would hang this image in my house for sure.

Another great documentary shot which shows the importance alcohol has in so many different cultures, all around the world. The title is” To drink or not to drink that is the question”, but what I see in this image is a young woman who has already taken a sip. She has that unmistakable look of a child tasting spirits for the first time. The image has a balanced composition and the photographer was perfect on his timing to capture the expressions. Great use of natural light and I love the final treatment too.
This is an awesome product shot. Shooting water or glass in the studio is always going to be difficult, so combining the two and getting a fantastic result is incredible, so hats off to the photographer. They have shown a lot of skill with their lighting and their tenacity in getting the product looking crisp and sharp. I can only assume a shed load a few shots were taken on the day? Good composition and I love the photographers use of bold, complimentary colours too.

This is a great shot and my favourite out of the documentary images submitted. I love the way the photographer has chosen to split the composition in two by cleverly placing the wall as the centre of the image and so creating two separate, but compelling stories in one image. Great timing on the hand movements which gives symmetry and balance to picture.

Booze (and the bad decisions that often go with it) is a photographic trope with real staying power - and not just thanks to the tabloid coverage of misbehaving holidaymakers. 'Booze' can also be beautiful, photographed elegantly for commercial shots surrounded by crisp studio lighting and crystalline tumblers. Don’t be afraid to bring your own, unique interpretation to this theme.
As a glass still-life, this image had great potential, but it has one major flaw and that being the focal point of the image (the cluster of bubbles in the centre), is sadly not in focus. When shooting a macro shot, I always switch to manual focusing, utilise the live preview mode on my camera and select the focal plane I want to use, so the main focal point of the image is always as sharp as it can be. If the bubbles were sharp and the photographer had cleaned up a few marks, hairs and the finger print top right of the glass in post, then this would have certainly had received a Commended award On the positive side, I love the colours the photographer has chosen and the lighting they have used, so I will look forward to seeing more from this photographer in the future.
