I really liked the composition of this image with the functional brick block of flats set behind the wooden seaside huts. I think that this image would be improved with a slight perspective adjustment as the block of flats is slightly off centre and that doesn't feel intentional. This could easily be resolved in the edit. Overall a good entry.
I was drawn to this image as I thought that is was powerful subject choice for the brief. The worn, abandoned gas station and empty surroundings emphasise desolation. The photographer has used a blue hue and drained saturation in the the image to capture the decay of this once functional structure. I also thought that the decision to the white edge frames the picture well. Well done.
I was immediately drawn to this image as I felt that the red lighthouse was a striking focal point against the energy of the sea and sky. The clouds give a soft texture against the waves of the water and this I felt was a thoughtful choice of composition. I thought this fit the brief well in its originality, evoking a sense of solitude and resilience for this functional structure. A worthy winner, well done :)

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** This contest is all about the less showy architecture of the world. Exploring the interest we can find in buildings that many would call boring, but others might say are merely understated, more focussed on function than form, and probably a lot more economical to build.
