We couldn't have a competition like this without paying respect to the longest brick (earth, stone and wood) structure on the planet. I had a few images of the Great Wall to choose from but this one had the nicest qualities and light. Congrats on 5th place.

A traditional scene from the Industrial heartlands of the UK. Brick tones and textures are one of the most common backdrops in this kind of landscape. Considering the wide spread use of the brick in the industrial world, this is another homage image that works very well. Congrats on 6th place.

An image that shows how brick can be used in conjunction with other building materials to create a design feature. The symmetry here is lovely and the muted colour palette works really well too. To me this most definitely is a celebration of the humble brick and my second place image. Congrats!

Bricks have been in use for around 6000 years, and many of the worlds greatest architectural creations have been made from bricks. In this contest I want to see images that focus on bricks. The images can be of a building made mostly or entirely from brick, or you could show the bricks being used in the construction process or indeed being shaped or fired. In my judging I will be looking for images that make good use of light to bring out tones and textures of the bricks But the most important aspect should be based on how well the image pays homage to one of our greatest inventions. Looking forward to seeing some amazing images.

This abstract image of some isolated bricks poking out of a white painted wall caught my eye for its graphic qualities and difference from most of the other images in the selection. It's quirky, bold and fun and for that reason it comes in 8th place, congratulations!

I really love the processing work done on this image. The colours and the texture on display just scream aged bricks. Single point perspective works really well and there's a lovely balance to it. Congrats on landing in 4th place.

Italian architecture is maybe one of the nicest architectural styles in the world and I have a soft spot for the 'UP' shot and this one is an absolute cracker. The features in the brickwork here all lead your eye straight through the scene and into the blue sky. Beautifully aligned and well done on the effort taken to get it so perfect. Congrats on 3rd place!
