Bridges Around The World

This my winning image for a number of reasons. Firstly it is an iconic location which has been photographed probably from every conceivable angle and aspect. This image has created a sense of mood and place around the bridge, capturing it at the point the sun rises over the horizon to the left and lighting up the sky in the background. The bridge itself is lit up by its neon lights creating interest in the mid ground. Finally, I have to applaud capturing the man reading the info board in the foreground (most people would have left him out) to complete a highly accomplished photograph. What a great image!

Having photographed this bridge many times myself from the ground and in the air, I love this interpretation. This is a clever shot. Using the fog to shroud the bridge in the background, leaving it seemingly hanging in the air. The choice of angle is inspired using leading lines to draw the eye into the scene. I wouldn't mind having this in my portfolio! Well Done!

Excellent shot captured in one of the most remote and iconic locations in the world. I like the way the photographer has captured the rope bridge from below using it to lead the eye in to the wider scene. It certainly captures a sense of place and history. Well Done!

This is a great image, well composed with lots of interest. The river and grasses around the the rocks catches your attention immediately whilst the stone bridge itself with its cobbled coloured stone urges you to investigate it further. The image is completed with the eye being drawn through the bridges to the house in the background. Nice Work!

I love this image because it demonstrates how B&W can be used to great an interesting and dramatic scene. This would not be the same image in colour. Taking the time to use a long exposure to create a sense of movement in the sky and capture the light and shadow beneath the bridge on the water has worked extremely well. Excellent, well done!
