An attractive shot of a bright neon pink and green bucket and spade. The title indicates these items were abandoned, but hopefully they were retreived later in the day after you had taken advantage to use as a photographic subject, to be put to work on another day to construct sandcastles. The viewpoint works well, with the camera low to the ground to give an interesting perspective. Well done on yoyr top ten placing.
I love this rather stark, minimalist composition of a bright blue bucket and spade on the beach. The image looks to have been deliberately over-exposed to create the eye-catching high-key look, with the long exposure nicely smoothing out the details too to keep everything clean and simple. I like that the bucket and spade are not identical in colour, so creates more interest. Beautifully simple but effective, congratulations on your second place finish.

I love the array of bold bright colours of these assorted plastic-wares, including those all-important buckets. There is no obvious focal point, but I don't think that matters with a subject such as this, as wherever the eye settles there is something amongst the jumble of products to hold the interest. Well done on your top ten placing.
What I really like about this image is the limited colour palette, with the majority of the image filled with soft shades of cream and peach. The lighting is great as it shines through and illuminates the bucket and draws the eye, to ensure it remains the focal point. Sensitively processed to avoid any deep shadows or bright highlights, keeping everything with a delicate softness. Congratulations on your third place finish.
An interesting collection of objects around the doorstep. I don't know whether it is a set-up or a found scene, but whichever, it has plenty of interest. I may have been tempted to slightly lift the shadow area on the top right as it tends to draw the eye, but still a great shot, captured from a good viewpoint low down to the ground. Well done on your top ten placing.
Some rather sturdy spades, a cut above the traditional seaside buckets and spades, so I would expect to see some rather splendid sandcastle constructions resulting from these tools!! Colours are nice and bold too. A simple but well-considered composition, certainly making these spades the star of the show, whilst also showing some of the surrounding landscape too. Well done on your top ten placing.
An unusual but ingeneous method of keeping a door closed, the image also demonstrates why it is always a good idea to carry a camera as you never know when you may chance upon an interesting little scene such as this. The colour scheme of just greens and creams adds a lovely simplicity to the shot. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.

I would like to see your photos of buckets and spades, shown either separately or together. The buckets and spades can be any type and size, certainly not forgetting children's buckets and spades used at the seaside to build sand castles. For this contest the definition of a bucket is an open container with a handle, made of metal or plastic and suitable for use to hold and carry liquids. You are welcome to include people but the bucket or spade must be a key feature of your shot. Images can be in colour or black and white. I am looking forward to seeing your entries.
