Cacti and succulents

I absolutely adore the depth of field in this shot, at f/2.8 the buttery background pulls the subject out so cleanly. This is such an interesting subject too, a great example of the diversity of succulent life. I congratulate you on a well executed image, a perfect example of succulent photography, with such rich colors and textures that are quite pleasing to the eye.

There is something so intriguing about this image to me, the figure and movement of the cactus across the image leads the eye in an almost serpentine way. It resembles the spine of a dragon and evokes imagery in the viewer's imagination. This is also a fine representation of the harsh side of cactus and succulent life, these giant interlocking spines serving to protect the plant from the harshest conditions on earth.

I adore the simplicity of this shot, the colors, and the composition. The succulent reaching up towards the sun, little roots searching for purchase- give a sense of movement that is unusual for plant photography. This is a well executed still life, perfect in color and balance. I love how the color palette is quite uniform through the image with soft pinks and grey-greens. Excellent work!
