This beautiful image intrigued me as soon as I viewed it. I am not sure if this female cardinal is looking at something below her or shaking off some of the rain/snow. That is part of the story this image tells. Well captured.
Here is an example of why following rules are always black and white. Most would suggest having the cardinal more to the left. But having her center stage tells a story of heavy rain/snow.
Wonderful focus and bokeh too! Thank you for entering.
This image is so good it looks staged! Well done with timing and composition to say the least. Planning ahead for this certainly was well executed.
The coloring, clarity, and rules of thirds helped this image to stand out among others. Thank you for entering this contest. A well deserved 1st place image.

Love this Red-crested Cardinal. This isn't a well known cardinal but it is one of the prettiest and my favorite cardinal!
This capture has great depth of field which, allows your eyes to immediately focus on the cardinal. I also appreciate the darker than normal feel to this image. Is the cardinal hiding or just resting in a well covered bush? A story is certainly unfolding here. Congratulations and thank you for entering.
I love this image! You have clarity, depth of field, and action telling an entire story here! Composition is superb as well. Great capture. Thank you for entering this phenomenal image.
This female cardinal seems to have gotten caught in the act and is surprised to be captured by camera! Excellent timing. A well deserved top ten image!
