Cattle, Bison and Buffalo

I love this image, full of atmosphere created by the mist and dust being kicked up in the gentle golden light. Composition is great, with a large number of the buffalo being framed by the trees in the foreground. I like that you decided not to go in too close to the animals, as by including the landscape we get a real sense of the place. Congratulations on your second place finish.

This splended shot of some inquisitive cows on a dank morning takes my top spot. The mist in the background helps create atmosphere, along with the muddy legs and feet from trampling through the wet earth. Framing is great, with the five cattle a clear group witb space around them to avoid looking cropped off. Colouring looks natural, with the rich brown adding a little warmth to the otherwise damp and chilly scene. Congratulations on your winning image.

A beautiful documentary image, highlighting the close relationship between the tribesfolk and their herd. The smoke adds to the atmosphere, and the low sun brings to mind the calm settling down to rest at the end of the day. I especially love the gentle colouring, dominated by the soft white of the cattle, which allows their splendid horns to be prominent against the lighter background.
