This is a wonderful animal portrait with brilliant eye contact on the horses and amazing colourful foreground with the buttercups. Although the sky has been replaced digitally, the photographer has done a good job at blending a new one in seamlessly to match the tones and sunlight from the rest of the image. Great job!

Marek has caught a fantastic scene here at the Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District. His composition is spot-on, using the rule of thirds to position the horizon about a third of the way down from the top edge and the rocky foreground interest about a third of the way in the from the bottom right corner too. The colours are beautiful and the tones have been expertly captured.

Wim's beautiful summer shot of this lavender field has rightly earned its place on the PhotoPlus 2023 calendar! It's packed full of beautiful colours and the rows of flowers act as fantastic lead-in lines guiding the eye towards the building in the middle of the shot which is the obvious focal point.

Alan's captured a fantastic landscape here with incredible depth and atmosphere. The subdued misty background really helps the lone tree stand out and the autumnal colours throughout are sublime too. It just goes to show that even drab weather conditions can make fantastic images, so if your camera has decent weather-proofing don't be afraid to take your camera out in drizzle or a downpour.

Yvonne's beautiful shot of a hare in a crop field is the perfect spring-time animal portrait. It's full of vibrant greens and yellows and she's positioned the hare about a third of the way in from the bottom and left frame edges. Following the rule-of-thirds makes for an interesting composition. The light catching the hare as it's turned around to make eye contact with the camera is the icing on the cake. Great job!

From the lush green foliage to the soften forest lighting and ground carpeted with fantastic bluebells, Andrew's taken a beautiful landscape that perfectly encapsulates Spring. We love that he found this magical spot when making a delivery for work and asked the land owner to return so he could do the scene justice with his camera. Top job!

Jan's minimalistic shot of two dahlia's goes to show that even simple garden flowers can make compelling images. The incredible subtle yellow and orange tones throughout the image are wonderfully summery and the heart of the flower is the perfect focal point that does a great job at pulling the viewer's eye into the shot. Great job!

Erika's captured a unique winter landscape propping up a loveheart-shaped rock to use as her foreground interest and framing up to include the amazing colours of the Aurora Borealis to light up the background of scene. Her shot rightly earns a place in the PhotoPlus 2023 calendar - great job!

Richard's captured a fantastic winter landscape with this GWR Class 5600 steam train cutting through the landscape on the Churnet Valley Railway. The overwhelmingly pale and minimal colour palette helps the train with its red flourishes stand out from the snowy background. Great job!

This wild kingfisher portrait is full of summer colours from the lush greens and yellow flowers nicely defocused in the background with a wide aperture to the electric blue colours of the kingfisher's head and wings. The focus is spot-on and composition works well with the subject looking into the empty 'active' space on the left side of the frame. Great job!

Steven has taken a fantastic winter landscape here packed with brilliant contrast and he's done a wonderful job at retaining details in the bright snow which would be easy to clip. We also love his use of the fence to guide the eye towards the house and a long exposure to blur the clouds is effective too.

Few subjects are as autumnal as deer and June's shot has a wonderfully atmospheric muted colour palette with a misty background and brown leaves in the foreground. She's caught a fantastically comical moment where the deer has brought its head up covered in the bracken and she's got some wonderful eye contact with the stag in this shot too. Great job!

Caroline's wonderful family photo instantly caught our eye and with its fantastic autumnal colour palette and falling leaves that were added after the fact in Photoshop. She's captured a wonderful moment between her daughter Willow and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chester, and her use of a short telephoto 85mm lens and wide f/2 aperture has helped compress the perspective, bringing the attention firmly onto her subjects while beautifully defocussing the background.
