Character Study

Wonderful storytelling – I didn’t need the title or anymore information to appreciate this image. I love the mix of natural and tungsten light, all of the different textures and the use of sidelight to focus attention on the subject. Great timing with the curtain just lifting and indicating the presence of a strong breeze.

Brilliant and arresting storytelling. A fascinating concept very well executed – both creatively and technically. An important message very well told. It makes me want to see the rest of the series.

Even though I missed the braille in the image first time the photo still stopped me because I wanted to know more about the story due to the somber mood. The facts just make it more powerful. On top of great storytelling is strong compositional balance and good use of mono.
