A great shot capturing the folded layers within the cliff face. I like that we still have some context by including part of the gravelly beach, as this gives a sense of scale to the geology we are viewing. Everything is nicely exposed to highlight the form and texture of the rocks. I especially like that everything looks natural as the eye would see it, with no harsh or over-processed effects. Congratulations on your second place finish.

A stunning viewpoint, captured from near the edge of the cliffs, getting in a sweeping view to the taller rock formation in the mid-distance. I love the cool colours within the scene, perfectly conveying the icy chill of the weather. The dusting of snow helps pick out some of the details in the rocks, adding depth and interest. Congratulations on your third place finish.

This image really carught my eye, with the way the movement of the water has been captured really adding drama to the shot, without being excessive or unnatural. The slower shutter speed captures the movement, but is not too slow as to render the sea a milky blur, which would in effect have eliminated all sense of movement. The dark cliffs stand out well against the lighter sky, adding to the moodiness of the shot. Congratulations on your winning image.

In this contest I would like to see your photos of cliffs, which are steep vertical, or near vertical, exposed rock-faces. You could show cliffs that are most typically found at the coast, but images could also feature inland cliffs, maybe rivers canyons or cliffs in high mountainous areas. It must be obvious that any rocks in the photo are cliffs, and the cliffs should be the focal point of your photo. Images can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.

A stunning view from atop some towering inland cliffs, across the lower land to the snowy mountains rising steeply in the far distance. I love the little pops of weak golden sunlight, bringing a little warmth to the chill. The figure on the clifftop adds interest to the scene, creating a sense of scale and helps provide a narrative. Beautiful capture, well done on your top ten placing.
