You have chosen an ideal viewpoint to create an image with strong impact. I like your control of the shadows, which add a series of bold triangular shapes to the image, but still retail some detail. If I am being picky, I think I would have tended to try to keep the colour of the sky a little more natural during processing, but that is only a minor issue and this is still a superb image, showing off this angular architecture to its best. Congratulations on your top three placing.
The extreme wide angle and HDR-ish processing give impact to this shot, and is the perfect subject for this "Corners" contest ,as it tells the story of a corner - corner shop, a bike propped up, market stalls and buskers. The shot has a bright and sunny feel to it and seems to capture the mood of summer in Shoreditch. I don't know what is in the road to your left, but if possible it may have been interesting if you could have stepped back a couple of paces (if possible) to show the view directly up that street too. Still an interesting, detailed shot. Well done.
I have reviewed this image in a previous contest, and the image for me is still as strong and worthy of its top ten finish. Many people try to avoid getting bypassing people in their shots, but this is a perfect example of how important a suitably positioned person can be to a scene. Her blue jeans contract wonderfully with the rich rusty coloured plasterwork above, and her slightly stooped gait as she carries her heavy bag mirrors the tiredness of the surrounding architecture. Lovely image.
A bold image which has been expertly composed to give maximum impact. You have avoided any temptation to oversaturate the colours, leaving both the sky and buildings natural. The exposure allows us to see detail in all the shadows and helps create a quite abstract feel to the shot. If I were the architect, I would be very pleased that my building was being photographed in such an impressive way. Great work.
This was a late addition to my awarded images, and then it shot right up to second spot after initially being overlooked. I like the wide angle viewpoint, and the subject suits your choice of filters in processing. The elderly lady, looking to be struggling to control her veering shopping trolley, is perfectly placed on the lower left third of the image and I also like the smack bang central composition of the house on the corner. The wet pavements add a glimmer of brightness to the otherwise grim mood of the image. Love it, a well deserved second place.
This is an image which I feel may possibly be overlooked by the crowd, but is one which I think deserves to be lingered over, and is worthy of its place in the top ten. An interesting and slightly unusual subject - I get the impression the boys are climbing the framework just because is is there and just because they can! Technically maybe not the sharpest or most perfectly exposed image in the contest, but I love your capture of this simple scene of four boys at play. Well done.
This is a beautiful image, striking in its composition and use of light. Your conversion to monochrome has been especially well done, and by stripping away the colour we can focus of the shapes, lines and shadows. Composing the image to position the children & their shadows on the right lower third works really well, and for me the large amount of negative space adds to the shot. I am curious to know what they are looking at just outside of the top of the shot, and that adds to the story for me. Quality work, well done.

A corner can be defined as the point where two or more surfaces, sides or edges join to form an angle. You may wish to stay indoors and perhaps show the corner of a room, maybe with an object of interest positioned in the corner. Alternatively you may decide to head outside and show a street corner, or the corner of any architectural structure. The choices are wide and varied - just make sure a corner is the main focal point of your image. I look forward to seeing your best images of corners.
