Another Cornish icon I am very familiar with. Unless I am mistaken, this looks to be a late afternoon/early evening shot given the direction of where the sunlight is coming from. I particularly like the overall warm tones, with the causeway foreground lit perfectly by the sun's rays as it goes down. Sharpness, contrast and composition are all served very well here. Very dreamy and very well done!
Another panoramic shot of a well known part of Cornwall. I think it works well in black and white but I do wonder what the colour version would have looked like? I assume it must be out of season - which is the best time to go in my opinion - due to the lack of people around, particularly on the beach. It's not often I've seen the harbour here so crammed full of boats, something which - on this occasion - just adds more 'subject matter' and gives the viewer more detail to look at. All this coupled with good contrast and an angry-looking sky, make for a great panorama. I love it, and many thanks for your entry.
As I've already said, I've stayed in Cadgwith a few times but cannot honestly remember seeing this plaque up anywhere - just the one that depicts the running results in the ongoing annual fishing competition. I will look out for this on my next visit. What I do like about this shot is the story it tells, through a high-contrast, narrow depth of field image - with the plaque showing obvious signs of wear and tear due to the close proximity of the sea, which can get very rough indeed around these parts of Cornwall. My thanks for your entry.
I am no stranger to this part of Cornwall - I've taken plenty of photographs in and around Cadgwith and have stayed here countless times. This shot would have been taken on the coastal walk between Cadgwith through to Lizard point and beyond. I love the panoramic format which captures - pretty much - the entire village with the gritty black and white processing working particularly well. For me it sums up Cornwall perfectly - well done and many thanks for your entry.
I just love the POV here - with this shot being one of several entered into this competition which, in my opinion, sum up Cornwall perfectly in one frame. The relatively warm tones of the deckchair wooden frames work particularly well with the blue and white stripes of the deckchair material and the overall cooler tones throughout the rest of the shot. Well done, beautifully composed, and my thanks for your winning entry.

Despite the authors' protestations with regards being out of their comfort zone in taking such a shot - I think the result is fantastic. The stark contrast, with the relatively washed out colour tones, coupled with the determination shown on the fisherman's face all come together in a powerful documentary shot which highlights really well the tough life Cornish fishermen - indeed all fishermen - have to endure. Very nice and my thanks for your entry.

Let me see your photographs taken in and around the English county of Cornwall, in the southwestern region of the UK. The more typically Cornish, the better. Colour or black and white, the choice is yours. I very much look forward to your entries.
I always like a different and out-of-the ordinary shot - and here is my pick of this particular bunch - such a nice and refreshing change from what some might consider the norm. The monochrome processing works particularly well in what for many would have been a difficult shot, gaining the right exposure to ensure no burned-out highlights - something which is often overlooked by many. Of course, it's the boat-packed estuary with all those wonderful silhouettes that absolutely make this image - I love it and many thanks for your entry.
