Definitely a claustrophobic crowd here. The white cup like objects that are being held up ad a lot to the sea of people. The use of black and white helps make the whole image feel like one cohesive whole. As if the crowd is one. The frond trow of people in wheelchairs breaks things up without detracting from he overall density. I think this image could have worked just as easily in color as black and white. Strong photo of a large gathering either way. Well done.
The enthusiasm and composition here are wonderful. Well done using a super wide angle lens to accomplish your focusing goals. I love the energy of this image. The crowd may be on the small side, but a crowd it is. The key figure here is the man in the foreground. He's well placed and well captured. I love that he's shirtless as well; his skin and its folds ads texture. This shot works well in black and white. Its use pares down the elements of the photograph to the essentials. Color would have been distracting.
With every seat taken, this crowd stands out. The darkness of the image and the black sky behind the bleachers keeps the viewers eyes firmly in the crowd.. The orange glow of the moon makes this image work perfectly. The moon is well placed within the frame to create a beautiful symmetry. I also like that there are several people standing up on the very top row of the bleachers. They help break up what would have otherwise been a rather straight line. So timing and placement have been used well. The high ISO allowed for just enough light of the people to give the ones in the foreground a bit of a glow, white the ones furthest from he field fade into the darkness above, thus giving the image added texture as well. Great job!

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** There’s something uniquely interesting about us when we get together in large groups - it’s an opportunity for comparisons of look, attitude, expression and dress, and to observe different behaviours, and the arenas in which we congregate. And we're focussing in this contest on crowds of the human kind.
