The moment I saw this photo, I knew it would be hard to top. It was submitted early in the competition, but from the start, it embodied exactly what I was hoping to see: that raw, almost mad devotion that music can draw out of people. It’s not just a crowd shot; it’s a visual symphony of emotion, energy, and pure human enjoyment. From technical point of view, everything about this image feels right: the composition, the lighting, the focal point, the sea of faces, the main subject. This man in the orange jacket becomes the heart of it all, embodying that unstoppable joy that defines live music. It’s powerful, honest, and beautifully captured! This image, just from looking at it, makes you feel you were there, too. I wouldn’t change a thing. The only piece missing is the story behind it - where it was taken, what concert it was, the details that would let us fully step into that night. Nevertheless, it was an easy win for me.

This image instantly pulls at the heart. It’s simple, honest, and incredibly moving. By the looks of the fence, it is a big event, which means the girl must have been standing there for hours (confirmed in the description of the image), that's why she looks so tired, but nevertheless, she is still dedicated to get on stage! From the technical point of view, the photo isn’t too strong. It’s out of focus/a bit blurry, but not in a way that adds to the mood. Still, the message outweighs the flaws. It captures a pure, human moment, the kind of passion and innocence that reminds us why live music matters.
Technically speaking, this photo isn’t the strongest: the colours, composition, lighting all could all be better. But nevertheless it captures something far more powerful: the raw, untamed energy of music, rain, and a crowd completely lost in the moment. And in the end, that’s exactly what this competition was all about.
I might be bias here, giving this image a higher ranking than others would, but it is the story behind it that made me highly command it. This photo instantly gave me a flashback, and took me back to 2012 in Zagreb, Croatia, the night Metallica headlined and Volbeat opened. It was pouring rain, the kind that soaks you to the bone, but no one cared. I still remember the Volbeat singer laughing and saying, “It’s not cool only you are soaking wet,” before emptying a full bottle of water over himself. That moment summed up the spirit of live music: raw, shared, and unforgettable. Just as this photo does, too! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes, knowing the story behind it adds that perfect cherry on top. From a composition standpoint, this shot could be a little stronger, yet it captures something far more valuable: a great moment frozen in time, charged with memory and emotion.
From a technical perspective, the exposure and tonal balance are well handled, maintaining detail in both highlights and shadows despite challenging lighting. The slight motion blur in the crowd adds authenticity without losing clarity. A wider crop and a horizontal cut would work better, but overall, this is, to me, a powerful, well-composed image, that tells a story I was hoping to see in this competition.
This image immediately pulls you into the raw intensity of the moment. You can almost hear the music and feel the energy radiating from it. The close perspective and unfiltered emotion perfectly capture what live underground shows are all about: pure, unapologetic power. Technically, the photo isn’t flawless, also I'd rather see focus on the fan in the right corner and more face of the singer, but then it would be almost too posed. Its "rough edges" or rather "imperfections" actually add to its authenticity. The chaos works for the image, not against it. It feels real, loud, and alive, just what I wanted to see!
I’ll admit, I’m usually not a fan of phone photography. I’m a bit old-fashioned that way and tend to favor the craft and precision of a proper camera. But this time, I just had to let it slide. The moment captured here is simply too powerful to ignore. The image radiates everything I love about live music: emotion, energy, and that beautiful connection between performer and crowd. You can feel the trust, the joy, and the shared experience in that one suspended moment of crowdsurfing. It’s a reminder of why concerts matter so much and why we need more people showing up, feeling, and living music like this. Seeing this kind of passion makes me hopeful for the future of live music and for the photographers who love to capture it, no matter what device they use.

I am looking for your photos capturing the range of emotions displayed by crowds at a rock concert, which can be challenging especially in low light conditions. Photos can focus on a single person in the crowd or a large group. Please do not enter photos only of the band; the audience should be the focus. Photos can be in colour or black and white.
