I think this is very good and would think that Dave would approve of it if he could see it. The difference types of Dahlias on display is a fitting Memorial to someone who enjoyed growing theses flower. The colourful mixer really pulls the viewer into this image with the pinks, oranges, yellows and Reds perfectly displayed like they would be in a flower show. The image from top to bottom is very sharply focused showing brilliance detail throughout. What I find amazing is that I couldn't see a single flower stem in this image so could it be that someone was looking down on this display I wonder.
This was with out a Doubt a very hard comp to judge, I found the standard of the images very good and i could easily have picked 3 or 4 winners but sadly I had to pick one. This is my winning entry in this Dahlia comp a Beautiful Purple and Cream Decorative type Dahlia I just love it. The overall image is very well composed with pin sharp focus and brilliance lighting that is very well balanced. The Background is nicely out of focus with the light just picking out some of the background leaf's. I couldn't think of any way this image could have been bettered it is just perfect and well worth first place in my Comp.
This is another very good Dahlia image that I found hard to ignore when I first came across it in Judging. The set up is super with the black Background working well here with the luminous colour of the pink and white dahlias. I like that there is 3 blooms has that reminded me of a saying my father used to say when ever he was planting flowers in the garden "Threes and Fives" he would say meaning that to show off a flower at its best its best to plant in a group of 3 or 5 that has stuck with me throughout my gardening years to date. The focus is brilliantly sharp all over here and the leaf at the bottom is a nice touch, I did wonder if this would have been better in portrait form instead of landscape but then would it have looked so good??

This is a wonderful captured example of a Cactus Dahlia and an image I did be very proud of. The Drops add another element of Beauty to this image. The background is nice and dark and the other un-opened bud works well. This nearly made my top image but just one thing stopped it and that was the petal which is cut off maybe because of getting to close in order to get the drops However this is still a outstanding example of the beauty found in this flower . Well done
This Image is another example of the beauty of theses plants in there many difference forms. A lovely orange Cactus dahlia with huge flower heads, I have seen theses as large as dinner plates. The focus is brilliance sharp centered on the middle of the flower. There looks like a touch of condensed water on some of the petals which I also like. The background is pleasing but there is one or two spots of Red ( other flowers ?? ) that could have been coned out I think otherwise a lovely example of this type of dahlia.
This Is yet another very nicely composed dahlia image, the background is brilliance and compromise the flower throughout, it has a Old film style to it that's works well. The image is nicely composed and very well focused. I just love that colour with the red on the edge of the petals fading to orange on the older ones. The leaf's at the bottom looks like they are floating in mid air. I could happily see this on a wall in a front room its that good. Good work well done

This is another cactus Dahlia but what a flower and Image. I just love the colours that are outstanding. Red and Yellow are very Complimentary colours that will always work together. The image is centered around the middle of the flower showing the beauty of the yet unopened petals. The focus is perfect and very sharp, the image is very well presented I liked it a lot and think it wouldn't be out of place on any art Gallery wall.
