The wake. An empty drink for someone no longer there? This image 'speaks' volumes. In a contest with so many hard hitting, in your face images, and creative photoshoped works. A photograph that takes us straight to the point: loss and love. If an image could tell a thousand words - this is it.

What is death without hope? This image really picked me up as I was searching through all the entries. You've captured a pensive, gentle looking Jesus. The bokeh, use of light and shadow and composition are excellent. This really is a classy portrait done brilliantly.

This image needs no words, it speaks for itself. Auschwitz - Birkenau death camp. A place of untold death and misery. You've captured this image really well. I love how you've used the leading lines from the train track as they trace their way towards that awful mouth-like entrance. The black and white image fits the scene well, and the slightly out of focus building adds to the bleakness. Well done!

I looked at this image for a long time, not knowing what to write. Working as a nurse I've seen this, truth is there are no words. It's the saddest photograph I have ever seen, and you've captured an intimate, dreadful moment - filled with love.

Death is a natural part of life, and the end point for all things. In this contest I want to see your most thought provoking and moving images associated with death. This is not an easy subject, and therein lies the challenge. Try to convey a meaning or story in your image, and be as imaginative as possible. Good luck!
