Another image that I thought portrayed 'deserted' perfectly. It narrowly missed out on my top 10. I very much like the processing, and the high contrast you have here adds positively to the overall mood of the shot. OK, it's probably not quite straight - which is a major bugbear of mine - but I don't think that should detract from an image that, essentially, gets the message of 'deserted' across. Many thanks for entering.
Another image that says it all to me as far as 'deserted' goes. It's simple - always a good sign in my opinion - and I love the low down perspective from which the picture was taken. I also particularly like the gritty grainy effect you have employed here, which adds nicely to the overall feel. Many thanks for entering.
I love this image! I love the starkness, the contrast, the white streaks throughout that - I will assume - are as a result of the relatively slow shutter speed capturing the falling snow/sleet, the lone figure with the blue umbrella and - most of all - the red area to the right of the image that represents the children's play area. Very nice and many thanks for your entry.
I will take this opportunity to thank all those who entered this competition....and managed to stick to the brief.
With the brief in mind, this was an image I liked the moment I saw it - it nails it completely! To me it screams 'deserted' as you have managed to capture what I have no doubt is normally a very busy road, minus any traffic or signs of life. I think it speaks volumes in these current times, which is essentially what photography should be about - the ability to 'talk' to those who are viewing the image and tell a story. Well done and thank you for entering this contest.
Another image that has 'deserted' written all over it. I feel there are two distinct elements in this picture that enforce that all important feeling of 'deserted' - the fairground beyond the perimeter fence, totally devoid of life, and the empty road outside which the viewer might reasonably expect to be very busy on those days the fairground is open. Very nice and many thanks for entering my competition.
I happen to like the processing you've employed on this picture, which may not be to everyone's taste. It stays just on the right side of that 'divide' for me. I like the brightly coloured architecture to the right and middle which, I think, contrast rather well with the relatively dull overtones of the other buildings that surround them....they certainly break up the monotony....and the lines of the road in the foreground, leading the viewers eye into the heart of the image, doesn't do it any harm either. Well done and many thanks for this entry.
An image that struck me between the eyes the moment I laid eyes on it. I love the dynamic contrast between the vivid colours you have captured here. I also love the leading lines of the empty chairs tailing off into the middle distance and then hitting that wonderful backdrop of those sandy coloured buildings of the Vatican...and so sharp! Very nice and many thanks for your entry.

For this contest, I want to see images that represent your interpretation of the word 'deserted'. For most of us, this would perhaps suggest images of areas where you would normally expect to see lots of people or evidence of the hustle and bustle of life...from streets, shopping arcades, bars and restaurants, to markets and what we would normally consider to be busy or transport hubs such as large stations and airports. The possibilities are almost endless. Pictures can be in colour or black and white/monochrome and should contain no more than one or two people at most. Please no pictures of areas where you would not normally expect to see either throngs of people or the hustle and bustle of everyday life, for example a wilderness landscape or a shot taken in the wide open country. I look forward to your entries.

I lived near the Costa Del Sol for 2 and half years in a previous life and so am no stranger to bars and restaurants on a beach which overlook the sea, which are normally jam packed in the summer/holiday season and then become empty and deserted during the winter months. To my mind there is little else that conveys that feeling of 'deserted' more and I think you have captured it perfectly here. I'd be interested to know exactly where and when this imaged was taken. Well done and many thanks for entering.
