Doors and Entrances

September 2022

I was drawn to this striking image because of the bold use of negative space around the blue door. This is a good example of a time when 'less is more' in a photograph. The photographer has clearly thought about framing and I think they have done a good job in their positioning and lighting of this image.

I really like how clean and bright this photo is. The use of light and shadow give depth to the stairs and the angle at which the photographer has taken the photo. The colour of the plant pots and the spiky cactus give texture and that extra bit of colour that gives interest to the viewer.

I really like how the photographer has interpreted the theme with this photo. The use of shadow gives drama to the photograph and the viewer can see just enough of the doorway to know that it is there without seeing it all. A super image. Well done :)

**This contest is open to photographers ranked below 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** A great excuse for a photowalk, wherever in the world you are. If you're near a building of any kind, there'll be an entrance, and they come in all shapes and sizes. We're looking forward to seeing this global gallery that should take us all on an armchair architectural journey.
