Doughnuts in Colour

I'm not a big fan of the mirror effect. I like this photograph, though, simply because it shows the entire donut experience and in a beautifully taken picture. The viewer is able to see the shiny chocolate exterior and see the creamy goodness of the inside, which I feel is captured in an excellent manner.

You walk into a donut shop and see your selection. Which one will you choose? The anticipation of the question drew me to this photo. I love the use of the lighting; every donut has a shine to it, but there is also a dark contrast in the entire photo.

There is no other picture in this contest that deserves first place more than this photograph. It takes the donut and includes it in a public location. The neon lights stand out and make the donuts much brighter. I appreciate that the photographer took the subject and thought outside of the box. Awesome.

I am an avid enthusiast for photographs that keep it simple. A lot of times the viewer misses how the picture tells its story, but these pure and candid pictures give much more of a statement. How do most people eat their donuts; on a paper plate surrounded by family and coffee and milk.

Macro photos and cross sections of food are my most favorite type of photography. Every detail of this donut stands out. The yeasty inside; every pocket visible. The chocolate on top; glistens and shows moisture. Great use of focus. spectacular photograph this is.
