Emerging

This image is a prime example of a minimalistic approach. Simple, but clear, unfussy and focused, it demonstrates the brief of 'emerging' perfectly. I, personally, would have cropped a bit more of the top, but the blurred background with its soft colour makes this a great composition.

The emergence of new life after death - the endless cycle of life captured perfectly in this exceptional image. It isn't an image that immediately caught me with a big 'wow', but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. As a photographer you must have been truly thrilled when this beauty emerged from the jungle for this phantastic shot. (Surely more than one!) The caution in the jaguar's face and movement shows its alertness and awareness of the dangers of leaving its cover. You did so well to show the cat moving, even though it's a still photo, not a video. Thank you.

I can only hope that you took this shot from a safe distance! This situation would have freaked me out totally, it's like the scene of a horror movie, with the silent danger emerging out of nowhere. It's the brilliant lime-green colour of the snake against the dull surroundings that really makes the impact. Great image.

What a brilliant action shot! You must have had your camera on a tripod, counting and ready. It is amazing to see the different reaction times of the greyhounds, precious seconds won and lost right at the start. I'm glad that you left some of the grass from outside the track as foreground, as it makes for a more rounded composition.
