In terms of storytelling, I appreciate the tension in the physical positions (seeming almost as one for a second but the mother holding the daughter in place) and the contrast of the mother's direct eye contact with the daughter's hair covered expression. Visually, the tones emphasise this contrast. Compositionally and in terms of aperture, the background texture adds gentle tension too whilst not distracting from a strong and simple subject placing. The image draws me in and makes me want to know more about the subjects and their relationship. I feel it represents the inherent tension with the closeness of family very well.
