I would like to see your photos of the first signs of spring. You might enter photos of things such as snow melting, icicles dripping, flower bulbs pushing out of the ground, birds building nests, or baby animals taking their first steps. The promise of spring brings new life and hope after a long winter. I cannot wait to see your photographs.
You know spring is in the air when the pheasant begins to dance. The yellow daffodils in the foreground, with their bright green stems leave no doubt as to the time of year. I love the energy you were able to capture in this shot along with all of the characteristic markings of this male bird. The pale beak and unfeathered red skin around the eye shows up in exquisite detail. As a former science teacher, I appreciate the details you included about the species as well as the scientific name. Thank you for this amazing entry and congratulations on earning my top ranking.

As was expected, there were several entries of bunnies in this contest., but this sweet one stood out as my favorite. I love the detail you captured. Even under the harsh light, you were able to capture the soft pink of the inner ear and the different shades of the individual hairs that make up the soft fur .The green grass and plants look fresh and spring-like against the brown leaf rubbish. By putting those elements together in one shot, you have created a very nice spring photograph.
Frog spawn is a sure sign of spring, but it is so difficult to get a good shot. You managed to do it and even capture an adult at the same time. The adult frog and the small ripples add excitement to what could have been a dull still life. I love the depth and the fact that you can see eggs both under and on top of the water. The green plants add just the right pop of color. Thank you for entering this great spring photograph.
