Overall, this photo had everything I was looking for in this contest. Technicality was spot on - with great light management and simply a well put together image. Not to mention it certainly has the cute factor. The focus is solely on the foal and the flowers create a dainty setting for an adorable baby animal. Well done.

This is a great ground level shot. The blur of the foreground and background forms a neat framing effect. Black and white was a good choice. And like the flowers, it contributes to the sweet, infantile theme of the photo. I like the lighting and the many tones of grey. Very well done.

I really do appreciate the clarity and contrast in this photo, even though I question cutting out the mom. While it may have felt more wholesome having the mom completely included, I do appreciate that the foal is in the spotlight. You caught him in the perfect pose as the colors of the environment frame him nicely.

Both the color and the quality of this image really drew me to it. The clarity allows for the viewer to see every single detail, from the sharp blades of grass to the crisp hairs on the foal. I love the lighting of this photo, it brings out the rich gold of a buckskin and makes the coat almost glitter. The long face makes the tall photo fairly fitting, and you can easily tell that this is a very young foal. Well done all around.

While the colors in this image are very simple, it's that same simplicity that makes it so appealing. I like the foal's awkward position, and how the empty background ensures that all attention is devoted to him. Job well done.
