Here, the composition, exposure and post processing all work for me. The image gives the viewer a sense of what was going on, where and when. And it is different – motorsport images need to have something that makes them stand out from the crowd, especially when you think this is an event put on for the spectator to watch as well as the competition itself. Congratulations for getting into the top 10 of my contest, well done!
Here, the composition, exposure and post processing all work for me. The image gives the viewer a sense of speed, whilst freezing the motion of the motorbike and rider. And it is different – motorsport images need to have something that makes them stand out from the crowd, especially when you think this is an event put on for the spectator to watch as well as the competition itself. the fact you did this in black and white whilst the majority of the photos I saw were in colour instantly made it jump put at me. the detail is great too. Congratulations for getting into the top 10 of my contest, well done!
The colour and composition work well for me in this shot, along with the razor sharp face. I suspect that the motion blur has been processed in addition to a slight panning movement of the camera, as the head wouldn't be the only part of the squirrel left in focus at f/5.6.
Nevertheless it stood out for me so well done in getting into the top 10.
Thank you for entering my contest! Whilst you narrowly missed out on the top 10 in what was a tough competition, you are commended for a fantastic photo.
What I like here is the sense of movement and colours used. Unfortunately you didn't place higher due to the skier not being sharply in focus as the brief required, however I did like the photo so well done nevertheless.
I'm interested in why you have named this photo a fail in it's title. For me this is a great shot which showcases movement, whilst being a very simple yet effective composition. I think to make it better I would have used a wider aperture and lower the ISO to make the contrast more prominent and hopefully getting more of the gymnast in focus.
But thank you for entering my contest.
Wow.
I love how striking the aircraft is, the detail, focus and colours, not to mention how close you must have been to it, even at 368mm.
You have obviously given thought to the aperture, shutter speed and ISO in order to ensure the clouds are not blown out whilst maintaining sharpness on the Typhoon, so there is some definite skill and expertise at play.
Therefore it was a very deserving top 10 placement in my contest. Well done!
This shot really stood out for me. Most photos involved a car, bike or other vehicle moving perpendicular to it on a traffic circuit, simulating almost Studio conditions.
Conversely, this shot is innovative and unique. Whilst the colours and background don't make the girl pop like some of the other subjects, the ingenuity and difference made it stand out. Not to mention this would have been rather difficult to take, so well done on placing in the top 10.

In this contest I want to see your best photographs using the panning technique, freezing the subject whilst blurring the background. Panning is a photographic technique that combines an appropriate shutter speed with camera motion to create a sense of speed around a moving object. It is a way to keep your subject in focus while blurring your background. Photos can be in colour or black and white and of any subject. In my judging I will be looking for images with great composition, choice of subject and interest.

Composition, colour and timing, all coming together nicely here. As I mentioned in another review, when you're photographing motorsport it's like working in a studio: you know where the vehicle will go and you can see the lighting. So, you as the photographer need to make sure you have the exposure right, as it is here; that your composition works with good colour and light coming into play; as it is here; and that you track it properly and get it nailed, as it is here!
Well done.
