You've found the classic view of Kirkjufell balanced out by the flowing, icy water, and created a really beautiful image. This one stands out for me because I like the pool of space below the mountain, almost as though it's been put on a watery pedestal to emphasise its bulk. The waterfalls are really well handled, with a shutter speed just enough to keep that feeling of energetic motion in the water. The exposure is masterful - and what a sky you were gifted with! There's colour and detail but gentle enough to leave the mountain as the star of the show. If I had one wish, it would be just to have a hint more of breathing space above the summit. Beautifully captured, well done!
This is a very clever composition - the shadow of the subject tree is just enough to emphasise the one patch of crackled, splintered ice. Your timing for the sun rays is perfect, and that watery highlight is well positioned to draw out the form of the rock, rather than having it in complete shadow. The image is a nice play between sunlight and frozen elements. Having the twin trees resting within the 'V' of the valley, plus the shingle and rock that lead our eye in, gives it all a lovely balance. A capture that I've enjoyed spending time looking at - really well done!

**This contest is open to photographers ranked below 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** With winter now receding in the northern hemisphere, here’s an opportunity to showcase any frozen lakes or rivers you’ve been photographing during the cold months. Ice and snow mute our landscapes with their whiteness, and that includes water features when they freeze. The blues and browns give way to the ice, and blend in with their surroundings, creating fresh photographic opportunities in landscapes that you might already have photographed plenty in warmer times.

This composition is so dynamic, with a real maelstrom of rushing water taking centre stage. I love the framing of icicles and snow, there's texture upon texture to enjoy and examine, and it meets the brief perfectly. I can understand how challenging it must have been to keep the highlights under control while leaving enough time to create the water movement - it looks to be right at the limit, so kudos for keeping that exposure reined in. There's one small dust spot right in the middle of the water, that would benefit from being removed to really complete the image. A nicely crafted photograph, well done.
