The oranges with the stalks still attached, an added sign of fertility, giving the impression that they have been freshly picked. The side lighting and the dark background showing the rippling texture of the skin. A good still life image. Well done on 9th place!

This is a lovely composition of these Kaffir Limes. The gorgeous green citrus fruit and dark green leaves with the moody dark background brings out the detail and distinctive textures with the soft lighting. A beautiful image. Well done on 2nd place!

This is a great well captured 'high speed' shot! I love the way the bright red strawberry displaces the cream or milk with a unique patterned, sharp droplets and splatter, isolated against the black background. Well done on 7th place.

***This contest is open to subscribers (members on the Challenger, Pro and Master subscription tiers). However if you're not a paying subscriber you can still purchase entries for £2 (GBP) per image.*** Fruits and vegetables are some of the best and most interesting subjects to shoot in food photography! They’re naturally colourful, texture and interestingly shaped. As a tip for getting started, spend some extra time picking your subjects. This might mean going to the farmer’s market or hitting up some organic shops; anywhere that shows a full diversity of weird and wonderful produce.

I love the composition of this image. The look of this exotic fruit, against the dark background, but it's a tad too dark for me. There is the nice detail of the stalk which is lost in the shadows. Adding a little highlight in the shaded areas would have made this good image, a great one.

I do like this image, but I placed it just outside of my ten 10. It is a good creative idea, but I feel it lacks something to complement the main subject, another texture or colour maybe. Still a great image though!

This has a very interesting composition. I am a fan of dark food photography as it draws the viewer's attention to the main subject. The colours of these vegetables compliment each and makes a good still life image. Well done on 4th place!
