The bold and contrasting colours, with the vivid lime green against the rich dark pink are an immediate draw to this image. Everything is in clear focus, highlighting the details and textures of this fairly minimalist composition. A simple but well executed image, with excellent use of colour, making this a very appealing image. Well done on your top ten placing.
This image stood out for me as soon as I saw it. The basic subject is simple - three chairs against a wall - but the resulting image is anything but ordinary. Technically the image is spot-on in terms of exposure, focus, composition etc. Textures and details have been very well captured, especially on the rough and fading plasterwork which gives a lovely feel to the image. The colour contrast between the wall and floor and the seats really make the chairs pop out of the scene. I am unsure whether this scene was captured as found, but the tilted position of the third chair adds extra interest. I like also that you have included the view beyond the corner of the wall, rather than taking a head-on shot, as it gives a greater sense of place. Super capture, congratulations on your winning image.

What I especially like about this image is the harmony of colours and limited colour palette across the entire shot, which makes it visually very appealing. You have done well to balance the exposure of the interior and daylight coming in the windows from outside, and everything looks sharply focused and finely detailed. If I was to be picky I find the bright yellow square in the floor on the bottom right a little distracting, but this could easily be remedied by either reducing saturation of that specific area, or careful cloning over. It is still a lovely image however, well done on you top ten placing.
There were a lot of images of various rooms in stately homes in this contest. Several were great images, but in this contest I was especially looking for photos which showcased the furniture in the room, rather than the room itself in general. By the way you have captured the light coming in through the shaded window, the long seat at the end of the bed is highlighted and becomes the initial focal point of the shot. Very well exposed in difficult lighting conditions, with a mix of subdued interior light and bright natural light through the window. Lovely colouring across the image too, with great capture of detils and textures of the folds of fabric. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
This image is a wonderful example of the vital importance of the light in photography. You obviously have a great photographic eye to have been able to spot the potential in a scene most would just pass by. One of the key successes of the image is the strength of the black and white conversion, with most of the scene in deep black shadows, with small areas and lines of white where the light has illuminated the subject and picked out some detail. A very strong graphic image, congratulations on your second place finish.

A great black and white image which is as much about the play of highlights and shadows as it is about the table and chairs. The shot has a lovely feel of lightness about it, as the shadow areas look to have been lifted to avoid them being too dark and heavy, which also allows detail to be seen across the floor. Composition of the shot works really well, and I especially like the strong diagonal across the frame caused by the sunlight flooding through the window and across the floor which acts as a lead-in to the shot. A simple subject, creatively captured. Congratulations on your third place finish.

While the furniture is fairly small in the overall scene, your viewpoint with the chairs set against a plain backdrop of light paving has ensured they remain a clear focal point. A strong composition with a very successful conversion to black and white, with a good range of tones making the most of the light and shade. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
There were quite a number of hdr-type images entered in this contest, but this was my favourite. The light has been very well balanced, as we see details both inside the dim room and in the bright daylight outside the window. Lovely gentle tones across the image give a pleasing softness, but does not diminish the details. Well composed and framed, with plenty for he eye to explore. I also like the colour contrasts between the warmer yellows and browns, and the cooler greeny/bluey/greys. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
A super image, highlighting the contrast between the straight lines of the floorboards and roof beams, and the gentle curves of the structure of the rocking chair. I have not seen a colour version of this image for comparision, but I imagine the shot is stronger for being in black and white. A great range of tones from black through to white, and very good control of the light which shows strong contrast, but neither the shadows or highlights overwhelm. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

In this contest I would like to see your photos of furniture. The furniture can be any type or style, but the item of furniture must be the main focus of your image. Entries can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.
A mundane scene of the tables and chairs of a street cafe, elevated to a bold and strong graphic image. The limited colours of just red and white are an obvious attraction and the saturation of the red is just about right, not always easy as strong reds can be a colour difficult to photograph for the desired result. I like the wider format of the image too, as it allows adequate space around the subject with nothing being cropped off. Great work, well done on your top ten placing.
