There is an obvious yin-yang message here, with the frame divided neatly along the diagonal. The position of the two figures is perfect, with both subjects far enough away from the central line to keep things nicely balanced. The choice of black & white is wise, reducing everything to shapes, shadows and silhouettes.

Getting the right balance between the reflections, text, figures and, of course, the line of sunlight must have been challenging here, but the photographer has managed brilliantly. Shooting during the Golden Hour has given everything a sun-kissed look, while also helping to add a sense of separation between the figures and the background.

When you find the windscreen of your car inexplicably shattered you might be tempted to rant and rave about it, but the photographer here has made the most of an unfortunate situation by shooting a building through the web-like pattern of the broken glass. Captured on a mobile phone, it’s a great example of how pictures can be found anywhere if you adopt a childlike sense of curiosity.
