An alien amongst us, i feel privelidged to have judged this competition giving me to see the natural beauty on our planet and i am always blown away by all the amazing insects and creatures we share this planet with, you have captured this insect perfectly peering over the leaf, strong DOF and sharp in all the right places, i have always thought where the directors of the alien movies get there inspiration from and from seeing this beautiful image i have a good idea, a well deserved commended image well done to the photographer and keep up the good work
I like the way the path leads you into the image making me want to see more to where the pathway leads, the colours work with the gravel path contrasting against the greenery and moss, taking the photograph in portrait works and i think if it would have been took in landscape it wouldnt have had the same impact so well dont to the photographer a deserved commended image keep up the good work
There have beem some amazing insects in this competion and this one is no exception we are privelidged to share this planet with some amazing creatures, in my opinion i would have been tempted to remove the dark twigg from the foreground before taking the photo but then again i know this is not always possible i think it slightly distracts from the main subject which is pin sharp and clear and is still a very nice image i do like the dof with the blurred leaves to the left to the photographer keep up the good work and a deserved merit well done
Capturing water blur using the long exposure technique is no easy task during daylight hours you have to use the right filters and get the shutter speed and f-stop just right to retain the sharpness and to avoid blowing out parts of the image, the photographer as got this spot on with the water blur and colours i like the framing of the image with the water running at various angles a much deserved commended image keep up the good work
A lovely close up photo of a macaw, in my opinion the image would have been even more striking if the background had been of natural greenery the greenery could have been blurred out by photographing the macaw a set distance away from the greenery, I think this would have given you more of an impact on what is a really nice close up of this macaw with lovely feather detail
Frogs are one of my favourite creatures/amphibians, and you have captured this little tree frog just right it looks as if its just shaken the water from its back and the water droplet just adds that something extra, its framed perfectly seeing all the stunning detail and beautiful colours a well deserved highly commended image much deserved, keep up the good Work
There is sadness in the image its quite thought provoking, i couldnt stop thinking about all the wildlife that will suffer because of these forest fires we experiance but they need documenting to highlight this, and you have done an amazing job in capturing the image, the swirling smoke adds that something extra to the image that probably wouldnt have had any impact without it so very well done to the photographer and a much deserved commended image
A quite pleasing image to the eye the wide angle and framing of the photograph shows the vastness and natural beauty of this place and the horse in the foreground works well, it goes to show what images can be captured on a mid range mobile phones, a deserved commended image well done to the photographer
My first thought when I saw this image that it was a plant then realised it was lizards tail a chameleon hats off to the photographer for trying something different and rather than photographing the whole lizard just the tail, I could actually see this on a canvas in someones house it would certainly be a talking point, it’s well framed and sharp with good detail a deserved commended image keep up the good work
This image jumped out at me on my first viewing it is beautiful as the algie on wascana creek merges and blends together, you could easily mistake it for an abstract painting and i knew this had to be in my top 10 a very striking image the way the photographer as captured it very well done to the photographer and keep up the good work
It was a privelidge to judge this competition and to see all natures beauty around our planet in all interpretations. It was probably one of the most difficult competitions i have had to judge with so many outstanding images and my winning image is this stunning Hummingbird hovering below the flower in the Brazilian rainforest the image as lots of elements the colours of the hummingbird really stand out and almost shimmer in the subtle light and that works really well the image is sharp in all the right places with good dof, i viewed this image full screen numerous times and the hummingbird is pin sharp the photographer as nailed it. Some purists would probably say the leaves on the plant are a distraction but personally i think this works as my eye always leads to the hummingbird hovering below the flower, I could see this on a canvas hanging on my wall I for one would be proud to display it, very well done to the photographer and keep up the good work

Green is probably the colour that we most associate with nature, and so we’re giving green things in nature a contest all of their own! This could be a green gecko, a field of grass, algae in a lake, or a green display of the northern lights. All subjects must be natural and not man-made, and still be in their natural state.
