I do like this image quite a bit. The rocks and pebbles are so pretty and the shine is well captured in the foreground. The leaf adds that subtle color pop. I am not sure if this is by the water - if it is, I am not sure how that leaf landed on the rocks. If it was placed there, then I would have also tried photographing the leaf facing up - just to get an idea on how the front of the leaf looks. Also the negative space at the left top of the frame looks a little disproportionate to the rest of the frame. I would have maybe tired to back off and add a little bit more negative space there to balance the rocks a bit more.

I really love this image! What a fantastic shot of a beautiful creature. There were so many owl pictures in this content but very few of an owl in flight. This is a magnificent bird with a few key features that truly sets it apart - the eyes of course, the wings and just the agility of this bird. I feel this picture capture all 3 elements spot on. I love the blur in the wings that gives a sense of flight and also the blue of the sky which makes the colors particularly the eyes just pop!

I loved this image! To me this image has such a strong story - the story of a misty morning, a fishing boat out to get the catch of the day and the sea gulls just waiting to feed on scraps. There is movement in the waves and the flight in the birds but there is also stillness in the boat. I really wanted to know what happens next! - I know this image was not processed or retouched but a little bit of processing (exposure, contrast and maybe a slight temperature adjustment) would have really made the boat and the birds pop a bit more and brought out some colors in the sky. Overall a very nice in-the-moment shot.

I love the way the shot and the processing here bring out the colors of this pretty bird. The orange and the grey make a beautiful combination and has been captured really well. Since this bird is such a common occurrence, I like how the photographer has not focused on the background and only one the bird. The fact that the water is blurred out can put this bird anywhere close to a water body. The tight focus on the bird really works here.

A beautifully captured waterfront scene. I love all the different lines and angles here. The bridge with the cars, the building and even the cable car curves all work really well together. I would have love a little bit more editing to bring out some of the color pops to give a little balance to the cloudy overcast day.

**PLEASE READ: We'd like you to try to focus on grey subjects rather than just turning coloured subjects to black and white for this contest.** Grey is achromatic but, although usually seen as quite a neutral colour, can have a huge variety of tones. We're not talking 50 shades... but most greys have either a warm or a cool cast to them and the human eye can detect even a minute amount of saturation, making this a versatile colour for photographers. Good luck.
