Hard lighting

Take a look at the <a href="https://www.photocrowd.com/leaderboard/">leaderboard</a> for more information on Photocrowd rankings.** Hard lighting is a focused light that casts harsh, defined shadows. Instead of the softer transition between light and shadow that exists in 'soft lighting', hard lighting gives more of an 'edge' that increases the 3D appearance of an object. Although not a forgiving light, it's great at drawing attention to certain parts of a photo and accentuating textures and details.
