This image, with its captivating subject and pleasing colour scheme, immediately caught my eye as I browsed through the entries.

What I particularly appreciate about it, and what makes this capture stand out from other street photography images, is the care with which the photographer approached the background. Backgrounds, especially in street photography, can sometimes be untidy and distracting. In this image, however, the photographer found a creative way to solve the problem, elevating this portrait to its beautiful, full potential.

The array of purples and pinks makes for a pleasing and elegant colour scheme. The soft light falls on the subject just right - delicate, but not flat -, with the much welcomed addition of catchlights. This is a beautiful, well-executed and certainly memorable portrait. Well done!

Maybe you’ve captured the exotic creations of a milliner, snapped a policeman in his helmet, or been looking for hankie hats on the beach for your homage to Martin Parr.

What a beautiful, cinematic portrait. I like both the choice of subject and his pose, casually leaning, looking away from the camera with a serene smile on his face. The metalwork framing his body is an extra interesting element that adds important cinematic qualities to the shot.

The black and white grading is balanced and pleasant, with enough depth between the shadows and highlights. The light falls on the subject softly, and yet is able to beautifully highlight shapes and the many pleasing textures in the image.

This is an effortless, technically well-executed portrait that feels like a still from a movie.

A sweet and amusing capture that brought a smile to my face.

The first thing I notice and love about this image is the interesting contrast between the boy's helmet, the location and his clothes. It's the perfect representation of a child's imagination and their liberating lack of self-consciousness. They can be whoever they want to be, whenever they like. There's nothing more wonderful that deserves to be captured and celebrated.

Visually, the boy nicely stands out from the dark and rigid urban background. He is colourful, full of life from head to toe.

It would have been nice if the blown-out object in the bottom right hand corner wasn't there, but I know that a perfectly clean frame is a big challenge with Street Photography. By all means, this remains a memorable and meaningful capture I thoroughly enjoyed looking at. Well done!
