Waimea Canyon is so expansive that it is difficult to photograph except in small segments. This multi shot panorama is an amazing handheld image. It is very much a tribute to the photographer's skill and patience as well as modern post-processing technology! My 27" iMac full screen retinal display is barely large enough to do the image justice. The photograph would make a tremendous mural or wall display! Nicely done!
Such a nicely framed image! The palm trees and the beach borders pull the viewer into the image. Silhouettes of the windsurfers and the distant island (of Lanai?) are very good, with the sails visible. Sunset and clouds are strong and colorful. The image would benefit by denoising the sky to eliminate the color noise. Very nice image!
The heavy clouds on the Kauai mountains and the dark, volcanic basalt rock are nicely contrasted by the warmth of the sun and the reflections in the quiet waters of the lagoon. It would have been interesting to increase the depth of field to achieve better focus on the foreground rocks in the lower left of the frame. Composition and exposure are perfect. Excellent image!
From the curl of the wave, to the trailing spray and the forward thunderous crash, this is a perfect capture. It is so easy to blow out the highlights with this constantly changing, high contrast shooting but nothing significant was lost in this exposure. Worth the many hours (and sunburn?) spent at Waimea Bay.
The Byodo-In Temple has been photographed endlessly so managing to get this distinctive photograph is notable. Usually, the clouds lay heavily on the mountains, diffusing the light and the koi pond reflections. Here, the mountains are clear and the reflections are wonderful! Shooting architecture straight on instead of at an angle is usually a poor idea but was both necessary and astute to capture the reflections, structure, mountains and the sky. Nicely done!
Haleakalā's crater is so expansive that it is difficult to photograph in its entirety. This multi shot panorama is a wonder of the photographer's skill and modern post-processing technology! My 27" iMac full screen retinal display is barely large enough to do the image justice. The photograph would make a tremendous wall display! Well done!
