This instantly stood out to me as a winning image!
The treatment of those lovely warm hues coming through the stained glass window is great and really transports the viewer to the scene.
There's a good mixture of dark and lighter tones across the image too, making it an interesting image to look at and spot different bits each time you look.
Meet the expert judge
A really nice, graphic image to round out the top 3, and it looks like an amazing building to explore!
Red is always a great colour to catch the eye, and it does just that here. The addition of the person walking down the stairs really finishes the image off nicely, too.
I would have liked the staircase to be central in the frame, which would have pushed this higher, but it's a great shot.
The tones in this image are beautiful; it's been really well treated and has a soft, almost film-like quality to it, which is why I chose it for my top 3.
Personally, I'm not a massive fan of the border as I think with it being white, it draws the viewer's eye away from the actual image, but it is personal preference.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked 1001+ in this week’s Leaderboard.** This interiors contest is focussing on styles and methods of the past. We could say that that encompasses a broad time period up to and including the 1960s, so we might see a shot of a mediaeval banqueting hall, alongside a Pop-art-inspired living space complete with ball chair and lava lamp.
