I like your picture because of the soft edges and the gentle light. The horse is not really fancy and in fact quite dirty but at the same time I think the photographer captured the essence of what I was looking for in this contest, nothing fancy, nothing special, nothing elaborate. Just your normal backyard pet that you love so much can have all the beauty and majesty that these amazing animals are known for. An amazing job.
Originally I had not wanted a lot of black and white pictures but your photo blew me away!! First of all I love Friesian's and secondly, I love how you took this picture. I think that the bridle looks a lot better then a halter in this photo, so good job with that and his attention is off to the left of the picture, it gives the impression that the photographer is not present, a good move when shooting animals I think. And the lighting really adds a nice bit of character, elegance and beauty to the picture. His mane is not quite covering his eye, I think when you can see the horses eyes it adds to the majestic and understanding opinion that these wonderful animals can give you. An Amazing horse and I love the name! Unfortunately, he got bumped back to 2nd because the photo is black and white.
What a beautiful picture! The sun outlining him makes it a calming and peaceful picture. Looking at the photo you can almost hear the crickets chirping in the long grass and feel a warm summer breeze gently blowing through the field. You can feel the serenity and the calm depicted in the picture in the way the horse's head is lowered and his body relaxed. The sun touching his mane and tail gives it a beautiful radiance. A deserving winner and a beautiful horse! Congratulations on a amazing photo.

I would like to see your best photos of horses. They can be in a grassy field, in a competition, even a wild landscape. They can be black and white but colour is preferred. I love to see the sheen of their coats and all the colours they come in. I do not want to see people in your pictures (with the exception a rider or handler in a show). Try to depict the beauty and majesty of these amazing animals in your photo.
