This is a brilliantly executed scene that oozes warmth, atmosphere and technical flair. It's one of those intriguing images that make you wonder what's going on here and how was it created. It appears to be a long exposure, as the sea and sky are smooth (although the supplied data says 1/2000th sec). Perhaps it adds to the intrigue!
This image instantly caught my attention, which is what any photograph should aim to do. I like the rule of thirds composition and black and white treatment, but it's the great choice of slow shutter speed, blurring the water by just the right amount, that makes this work so well. You can just sense the relief this chap is feeling!
A superbly engaging image that epitomises afternoons in the park and the joys of childhood. The timing to freeze the running children is spot-on and it's nicely composed. The yellow tone adds to the overall warmth of the scene. I was initially unsure about the cropping, but I do think that the amount of foreground space works well.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 1 and 250 in this week’s Leaderboard.** When the mercury rises, and those days that we longed for in the depths of winter are finally upon us, it is a joy to head out with the camera and try to capture the baking, lazy atmosphere of it all. Afternoons in the park, barbecues on the beach, sun cream deployed and hats on heads. How have you captured the long, hot days of Summer?
