One image that immediately stood out for me when I first saw it. I love the straightness and simplicity of it and the fact you've taken the picture head-on - an angle not always considered by some - and to finish it off you have the 3 perfectly placed chairs of different colours. Thank you for entering and congratulations.
An image I had to look at for a little longer than most before I was sure as to how all the elements that make it up came together. I love the cool pastel colours and the detailed ironwork of the bannisters. A very tricky shot to get right for obvious reasons but I think you have pulled it off as the exposure is pretty spot on. Many thanks for entering.
The title of this picture is spot on. Its very nicely composed and I like the fact you have it in Portrait - and not Landscape - mode. It's also good that you seem to have caught it at the right moment as had there been many more lights on I'm not sure it would have worked so well. The colours are also a stand-out feature and I like the fact there's multiple colours of light. Many thanks for entering.
I like the 'grittiness' and high contrast of this image and the fact it could be part of a photographic documentary, designed to tell a story. Who is the young lad on the bed and who or what is he waiting for? It's nicely composed too and the B&W processing made me sit up and take notice....not so sure I would have noticed had it been in colour! Many thanks for entering.
I'm a bit of fan of good corridor shots and this one was just that little bit different. It's nicely composed and - for me - is set off by the vacuum cleaner and the cleaning lady with her trolley half way down the hall. I also think the out of focus background works quite well. Many thanks for entering.
Another image I had to look at twice before my eyes had worked out what all the elements were. I like the coolness of the white and the beam of light across the right hand side. We all like pictures that have that all-important element that sets them off and, of course, it's the blue on the trolley that does it in this one. It's different and I like different. Many thanks for entering.
Well, this image is certainly different I think. It stands out immediately. It's nicely composed but of course it's the high contrast of the processing here that makes it, along with the inclusion of the coach. One or two dark figures maybe on the pavement area in front of what appears to be the entrance would've worked just as well as it has here without any figures. Many thanks for entering.

Meet the judge
What was it about this image that made me sit up and take notice? Was it the overall composition or the sheer simplicity of what most would feel is perhaps a 'nothing' shot? In fact it was both for me. It's perfectly composed I think, and a shot most people would just not consider. Many thanks for entering.

Hotels come in many different shapes and sizes. The architecture and design of some have the ability to completely stand out from the norm...especially if an old and interesting structure has been renovated for the purpose. In this competition I want to see images that convey a certain 'uniqueness' of the hotel concerned, or a picture taken from an unusual angle that makes the so-called 'norm' seem different or stand out.. Any details as to the hotel concerned will be considered a bonus. Anything goes - let's see what you can come up with. Good luck!!
