The precise focus on the foreground and the shallow depth of field highlight the mischievous gesture of this young boy whose pose and smile convey an amused complicity with the photographer. The vanishing lines of the street bring dynamics to the composition; I just regret that the red light in the background is a little too bright and attracts my attention.
The unconventional framing of this portrait is intriguing and the large empty negative space underlines the isolation and solitude of this seated person already partly rejected out of the frame. The strong point of the image towards which the leading lines of the arms and body guide is on the hands clasping some banknotes and revealing his condition as a beggar.
These hands, deformed by age and work, stained by dyes and seeming to support the tired face of this woman, express all the harshness of the working class condition. The contrast between the blue and the color of the skin brings out the sad and tired expression of the face. It is a powerful and telling image, my only regret is the light area, at the top, in the background, which distracts my gaze a little.
Invitation to smoke or challenge, I can’t say, but I am directly challenged by this hand gloved with a frayed mitten that points a smoking pipe at me like the barrel of a gun. The slightly asymmetrical eyes and the serious air of this fisherman contain a sort of threat. In any case, this is how I feel about this successful staging. I think the boundary area between the hat and the background could use some improvement.
This photo captures attention with its emotional intensity. The dramatic lighting, the contrasting black and white treatment, the close-up of the face, this disillusioned eye with the eyelid pulled down give a tortured aspect to this portrait. The details of the skin and clothing add richness to the composition. My only small reservation to this very strong image is the black shadow on the back of the hand.

I really like the very dark black and white treatment of this expressionist-style staging: the sidelong glance of this androgynous creature and the predatory gesture directly threaten the viewer with some evil spell. All this makes it a very cinematic image. I would have liked to see a little more of the nails and in my opinion the blurred edges of the frame were not necessary.
This blurred black and white image conveys an impression of mystery and emotion. The hand in the foreground forms a screen that occupies most of the field between the viewer and a partially visible eye but which imposes itself as a point of attachment for our gaze although marginalized at the edge of the composition. It is a gesture of refusal or protection and the hand only reveals a partial eye that seems worried. The blur, used intentionally, translates well this moment of trouble and uncertainty.

The focus on the rough and damaged hands clearly makes them the subject, a symbol of effort and work, while the facial expression left in the blur but looking away, lets weariness and sadness show through. Everything here expresses a humble life of toil. If I had to express a reservation, it would be on the treatment that creates a fringe around the hands.

This almost abstract, close-up representation of hands forming a cavity particularly emphasizes the details of the skin's texture and thus creates a graphic effect that is reinforced by the high contrast. This disconcerting way of presenting the ordinary folds of skin offers us a fascinating, almost hypnotic motif that mixes graphic design and symbolism.
Less is more: I like the minimalist composition of this clenched fist whose hue is highlighted by the contrast of color with the clothing. The image, with great economy of means, powerfully translates a whole contained anger. I only regret that the buttons on the sleeve are too visible (or not enough).
