Human Loneliness and Melancholy

A photo that takes its cue from surrealism, and inserts a landscape without the boundaries of time and space into the contest; a figure that speaks for itself. Some symbolic elements such as the masks or the position of the character on the ground make us perceive a real desolation and an acclaimed resignation. This man is in the world where he is alone with himself. Excellent choice of black and white which I consider a valid help because it’s giving the sensations of loneliness and melancholy.

I don't know if to assign the second place to the photographer or the model. The dark colors, the very narrow and intimate environment help to make the subject a really very dramatic one. If we observe the gaze, the nails, the reflection of the gaze full of melancholy and loneliness, our thoughts go completely to their distant parents or to someone who lives alone and not by its. It is another work of art that comes out of the canons of a portrait.

This photo is a great example of a reportage portrait. The position of this woman with such a melancholy soul encourages the viewer to be curious about her thoughts or her feelings. I would say it is a “stolen” and lucky shot. A tight focus on the woman erases the chaos of the street and leaves her melancholy to dominate all the fleeting life of the city. I find this shot very poetic and fascinating. My compliments to the author!

I find this photo extraordinary for many reasons: we find Christmas, a very particular period, interpreted and with all its apparent joy, hidden sadness and loneliness. It could be a simple portrait executed in a masterly way, but in reality, it is something more: the simplicity of the clothing that exudes a bitter irony certainly does not make you laugh, and the very resigned face of the man creates a strong visual and emotional impact.
