Ice Skates

I think that the black and white was a good decision for this image, it conveys more emotion. I really like the motion blur of the skaters and to the right hand side stands this one man looking into the camera, he is still and in focus. This to me is art and it may not be perfect, but it brings emotion to the table and that is what I was hoping to see. The one critique I do have is the cropping. I would like to have seen this cropped to the edge of the building, cutting off right before the woman that fell on the ground. Also probably the top roof of the building. I feel that would have made a slightly better looking composition. But aside from small technical issues, this image is a beautiful storytelling image that engages the viewer. This photograph brings me joy, it is such a beautiful, moment captured and great focus as well as clarity. I really like that you have included the buildings in the background, this gives the viewer an idea of about where this location was. The only critique I have is the cropping, I feel that the man that is half cut off on the right, should have been fully cut off. That adds nothing to the photo and becomes more of a distraction. Aside from the small technical issue, this is a beautiful photograph and moment captured, also great lighting too! These skates look as though they have had plenty of ice time! A beautiful still life, perfect lighting and amazing clarity. I really love the even contrast between black and white, how bold it is. I also really like the emotion I get from this still, as if they are calling to you to put them back on and go skating. Overall a beautiful photo, perfectly executed. This image is full of emotion, you have really captured a beautiful moment. I love that this image portrays a story, there is something to be told here and it leaves you thinking. The over exposed lighting is captivating and somehow works for this image. Though I would still have liked to see it toned down a bit more, it is a bit blinding on the eyes after looking at it for a while. But it does add to this story you are capturing.
