Iceland

There's something about the lone church against the mountainous backdrop that i feel is iconic in Iceland. The white building and red/brown roof stands out against the green background giving a sense of scale. Nice sharp focus and church being on the lower third makes this an appealing photograph

There are several reasons why this photo stands out for me. Firstly the Aurora itself, snaking through the sky, and the lagoon turning green under its reflection. But importantly this was taken on an entry level DSLR, albeit a good camera, and a standard wide angle lens, dispelling the inaccurate theory that it's not the camera that has the talent, its the photographer.

The iconic Icelandic Pony, no Iceland competition should be without one. The photo is great, it shows this hardy animal in its natural environment, the mane and tail show its another windy day, yet this animal takes it all in its stride. A beautiful animal and a lovely photo.

As the photographer says, Vestrahorn is one of the most common photography shots when visiting Iceland. So how to pick the best of the photos for this competition? For me its the black sand and golden grass in the foreground, the sharp contrast against the snow covered mountain really stands out. The snow on the mountain also makes this shot, it simply wouldn't be the same if the snow wasn't there. Simply stunning photo

One of my favourites from this competition, i love the way the photographer has captured the movement of the water, if the shutter speed had been slower or faster this probably would not have had the same impact. The shape of the ice is perfect for this photo, a perfect capture.

I have seen many photos of Sun Voyager, some at night, some at sunset, and some long exposure shots. But this is the first time i have seen a photo from this angle. I love the shadow it creates, it's a lovely composition and a good sharp focus, the photographer has created something a little different, which stands out from the norm.
