Great mono conversion. The moody sky and the low key treatment work really well to produce a really dramatic image. The jetty act as an effective 'lead in line to take the viewers eye towards the horizon. Although the ladder could be seen as a distraction - I think the contrast between the smooth, rounded, metallic pipework, the rough stone pier and the landscape works really well.

Although this image seems to stretch the theme of the brief, as there is very little of the jetty visible, I love it.

It is almost monochromatic and this works really well. The depth of field is perfect, rendering the nearest bird sharp and then falling away, leaving the boat just recognisable in the distance. I wish I'd taken it.

Wow - amazing result. There were a few long exposure shots but yours really goes to the extreme creating a really pleasing abstract effect that takes minimalism to another level. There is virtually no separation between the water and sky just one milky expanse with the wreck of the jetty rising out of the fog. This is about as far removed as you can get from the images I had in mind when I set the brief - and this is one of the reasons I chose it. Well done.

I have judged a few contests on Photocrowd but this proved to be the most difficult. There were literally hundreds of entries that could have made my top 10 - but in the end after hours of soul searching and elimination - I awarded my 1st place to this amazing image. The photograph illustrates the difference the time of day can make to the mood and look of an image. It wasn't until I put my top 10 images together that I noticed that two of them are taken from virtually the same spot but at different times of the day. The first, this image, looks like it was taken not long before sunset and the second, shortly after sunrise. I loved the beautiful, muted colours of this image and the sense of calm and warmth they bring. The pleasing composition also elevates it slightly above the other entry by the inclusion of the figure standing on the pier. The line of the pier naturally draws the eye to the figure and then to the mountains beyond - which I think works really well - well done for coming out on top against some really strong competition.

Everybody loves the iconic jetty shot. There's something about the strong lead in line to a beautiful expanse of blue water. See if you can produce an image that stands out from the crowd. I look forward to seeing your entries - good luck

This is such a calm and peaceful image. I love the way the reeds are reflected in the water either side of the jetty, seeming to cut the picture in half. I think it might have been even better if the sky had been a bit different - perhaps a little more dramatic - still, great image
